Being Held Accountable Vs The Cloak of Confidentiality

I remember the doors slamming. That was relatively recent. A youth was engaged in horse play. He was attacking another youth (physically and verbally). The other youth repeatedly asked him to stop. I identified the youth to staff. The youth was pulled to be “talked with”. I attempted to enter the room to provide a full account of what happened. I was told “You cannot be in here …….. this is confidential”. Really, I reported the youth, and, no follow up. I was not asked for details about what happened. I was trying to provide the details. The CLOAK OF CONFIDENTIALITY cannot be the tool to allow children to continue to be disruptive. You need some fact finding. You need some reports. You need a written paper trail to support your actions and conclusion so that you are not labeled as “arbitrary” and “racist” etc. 

It is not only used by people in low level positions.  It is the common tool used by many to ensure they will not act against their friends. 

Memories. Mr. Sherman. Mr. Sherman was an AP that did his job. Issues occur at all schools. That is normal.
Two kids got into it. The parents of both are called into the offices separately. Recorded written accounts of the incidents are produced. Findings are produced; and lastly, the administrative response is produced and articulated to both sets of parents and the students. You knew something would happen, they let you know the administrative response. There were no questions, but if you disagreed with the outcomes, you could appeal. You knew Mr. Sherman did something to address matters because he told you what was happening.

Recuerdo los portazos (LAS PUERTAS CERADA CON FUERZA). Que es relativamente reciente. Un joven fue metido en el caballo que jugar, haciendose payaso. Él estaba atacando a otro joven (física y verbal). Los otros jóvenes repetidamente le preguntó a detener, parate ella dijo. Yo identifique a el joven a los trabajadores. El joven fue sacado a ser "hablado". Yo intente a entrar en la habitación para proporcionar un cuenta completa de lo que sucedido. Me dijeron que "no puede estar aquí …….. Esto es confidencial". Realmente, me informó de la juventud y, sin seguimiento. Yo no estaba para pedir detalles sobre lo sucedido. Yo estaba tratando de proporcionar los detalles. El Manto de la confidencialidad no puede ser la herramienta que permita a los niños a continuar a ser perturbadoras. Necesita algunos hechos. Necesita algunos informes. Usted necesita un rastro de papel escritos para apoyar sus acciones y su conclusión, para que usted no se etiquetan como "arbitraria" y "racista", etc.



recuerdos. El Sr. Sherman. El Sr. Sherman fue un AP que hizo su trabajo. Ocurren problemas en todas las escuelas. Eso es normal.

Dos niños se metió en ella. Los padres de ambos son llamados a las oficinas por separado. Registran los relatos escritos de los incidentes que se producen. Los hallazgos se producen; y, por último, la respuesta administrativa es producida y articulados a ambos conjuntos de los padres y los alumnos. Usted sabía que algo iba a suceder, le permiten conocer la respuesta administrativa. No hubo preguntas, pero si usted está en desacuerdo con los resultados, usted puede apelar. Usted sabía que el Sr. Sherman hizo algo para abordar cuestiones porque él le contó lo que estaba sucediendo.
