I do not remember;
I do not remember growing up, going to school and having to
deal with the suicide of my friend.
That just never happened.
Things happened medically;
People got sick, they were diagnosed with unknown and severe
diseases,
But I never had to deal with the death of a friend.
So, a special thank you to Allie Chasin and Corey Staton.
In the midst of some very troubled times last year and a
little before.
I had to reach out to them (you both) for support.
My daughter was having a tough time processing the death of
her friend.
As a parent, I reached out to those whom had a little more experience
with this specialized situation.
Not that a parent cannot support a child, but rather,
sometimes you need someone whom specializes and has just a little more specialized
experience dealing with this scenario.
And they did, they were the youth leaders with
clinical/professional/direct certifications.
And, they helped her, my daughter process the scenario.
They helped integrate her into a family.
The end result was a better ability to fit in and process
things.
She used to “dread” being a part of the group.
The first year, it was a horror and she did not feel a part
of the group, the Trek program.
The second year, she opted for volunteering with the
children’s ministry rather than Trek.
But, your assistance made the difference. When the crisis ensued, you all were willing
to help.
You helped her feel a part of a group. You helped her process her feelings and
emotions.
You helped her get past the very tragic event.
That was a choice. You
both chose to help.
That was a choice.
Colonial decided to have support ministries and those groups available for
youth.
It is a vision.
It is concrete.
It is needed.
Thank you for your decision.
Your decision to help.
Your decision to work with youth
That was the little nudge she needed. Now we are back on track.
Now, going to church is not a pulling anymore. That had been the after AWANA’s problem (she aged out).
Thank you both.
Thank you Colonial
God is good.
