The SBC (Southern Baptist Convention) scandal is real. Let me site an example.

Let
me educate you and save you some time my friend...I do not work for nor am I
licensed through the Baptist State Convention, Raleigh Association or the
National SBC. I hold no position with them and they have absolutely no say over
anything going on at HBC. Also, we support missionaries through them
collectively and receive nothing back from them. Hence the term autonomy. All
decisions about HBC are decided by HBC. Call the conventions and they will
say”who”? Take it up with the local church. Yes we have nice conferences and
seminars periodically. Builds up the Body. Allows us to celebrate all the ministry that
is accomplished and show us how our money is spent. Waste your time if you
desire. Again, would you like a deacon to talk with?
This was the response
received from him when in part I asked for a button on the door for handicapped
people and other basic issues. I attempted to contact SBC and they said
they cannot do anything with local churches.
A pastor felt at liberty to belittle someone trying to
help. A pastor felt at liberty to scream
and threaten someone just trying to help.
A pastor felt at liberty because he knew “Southern Baptist” will do nothing
to him.
Perhaps it is a call to revoke all tax exempt status to all
members of SBC, categorically.
Today, I was at a meeting wherein it was professed,
paraphrasing here, it is a witch hunt because SBC supports Trump. Meanwhile, one big neighborhood SBC church, HBC,
openly declares its support for Trump. A
second, the one today, when it was said, SBC supports Trump, and so does that church
I was at, no one contradicted that statement, as it was known to be true (as a
visitor there are certain times wherein I cannot comment, I am not a “Universal”
member of their church).
I experienced the wrath of an SBC pastor. I went to SBC, read their guidelines, and
clearly they expressed “they do not care”, all pastors are free to do as they
please, and that was reaffirmed today by a WBC pastor, “that statement is true”. So, the substance of the scandal is not political,
but many choose to cling to that because it makes them feel better. It is a “Church in Crisis”, a failure of
churches at times to be churches. Now,
churches are political parties. But,
they do not post it at the door, it is widely known and accepted. So, do you continue “Tax exempt” status to
those whom purpose to be political. Perhaps
we need a “green book” so that if you are looking for a church, you can choose
it according to your “political affiliation” not “Christian values or precepts
or living or action”.
According to most/all SBC members, they are Trump supporters
[this is an expression of a personal survey and analysis]. So, just grounds do exist “remove” the tax exempt
status when under the cloak of politics, Christianity is far removed, and, as
an SBC member, I can do “whatever the hell I want”.
