 Thank you WCPSS for failing my child.

This morning started, I could not sleep, coughing all night long.

So, 5am alarm rings, time to get my son to school.

He showers, and then it begins.

“Get off my back”, the yells began.  Nobody else in the room with him.

“Get off of me”, things banging in the room.  Hum?  Is it the telephone? Is it a water-bug?

What the holy hamburger is going on?

He strives to succeed.  He wants to do good.  He wants good grades. 

Things hit the wall.  Bangs on the floor.  Things are broken, I will not enter to survey.

Echo, drop in ERO’s room.  “What’s wrong I ask?”, nothing he replies.

Doors slam?  What wrong as he exits the house?  “I have a headache and did not sleep and you are forcing me to go to school.  

Thank you WCPSS for failing my child.

Then I know, the grades are off at school.  An immediate log into power-school, sure enough, there is the problem. 

Then, check teacher and WCPSS emails, one new one, two days ago, he is failing a course.

WCPSS does not provide supports for the youth.  

East Wake High School does not provide supports for the students.

My son almost graduating and can hardly read or write.

He talks that teen slang that they developed to hide the monstrosity of the lack of a public education.

I asked for help, and WCPSS provided none.  Hence, the reading and writing. 

I asked for help, again, at the beginning of the school year, and was denied.

Thank you WCPSS for failing my child. 

Meanwhile, I was just at NC Voc Rehab to help get services, services needed due to WCPSS failure, the day before with Orientation scheduled for me and a neighborhood child whom graduated from special education and knows “Nothing” [Hogan’s Heroes]. 

He is big now, not just a boy.  192 lbs 6’1”.  But, he is my son whom I adore and will help to the best of my ability.
